Alain Silberstein Watches
A relative newcomer to the world of high quality watches Alain Silberstein has risen quickly to become one of the world’s hottest watch couture companies.
The story begins rather atypically with an architectural designer turned watch maker. Somehow this master craftsperson has combined his love of both disciplines to become an artist in watch making albeit one with a flair for unusual and creative designs.
Near the end of the 1980’s Silberstein began his watch making company. It was at a time when French automatic watches were thought by many to be a dying breed. Silberstein however aligned himself with a number of Swiss watch manufacturers who held the belief that automatic watches still had much to offer the public.
Today in Silberstein’s factory, located on the banks of the Doub River, he and his staff produce a number of high end models. Employing a staff of 20 workers, six of which are watch makers the factory produces nearly three thousand pieces per year in a variety of designs.
His watches, while highly technical are also whimsical, colorful and suitable for wear on a daily basis. His unconventional designs are presented in a variety of shapes and feature bright multicolor faces with unexpected features such as wavy second hands and triangular shaped hour hands.
His time pieces include tourbillions, sports watches, perpetual calendar watches, watches that are pieces of jewelry as well as time pieces and pieces that resemble works of art. Most models are available in limited quantities of a 1000 or less.His designs and mechanically sound pieces actively compete with time pieces from neighboring Switzerland. He has not however limited himself to just the design and building of watches, indeed he has expanded his creations to include knives and boxes which combine clocks, song birds and music boxes.
In the space of just over ten years Silberstein has made a name for himself in the world of high end watches. His pieces are highly sought and greatly coveted by watch aficionado’s world wide.
